JON CRAIN

Jon Crain began his training at the age of ten at Grand Forks Air Force Base in North Dakota. His first instructor was base instructor Ken Sherbet. Jon earned his 2nd degree in Tae Kwon Do at age 20, and at the same time Jon began teaching his own students. In 1990, Jon began to train in Judo under Sensei Doug Graham, then continued his training at the Mizudokan Dojo of Bill Emall. He earned his Shodan (1st degree black belt) in Judo after 6 years of training and competing. At age 23, Jon met Isshin-ryu Karate Master Donald Wasilewski and became his personal student. In 2019 Jon was promoted to the rank of Hachi dan (8th degree black belt) by Sensei Wasilewski and Sensei Mike Odell. At this time Jon was named the successor to the Steve Armstrong lineage of Isshin-ryu karate. He continues to teach his dojo, Crain’s Isshin-ryu Karate, in Buckley, WA.
